The education and health sectors received the attention of the state because of their essential role for sustainable development, and with the expansion of the establishment of medical systems and cities, the training needs of the practical cadres in the medical field, in general, can not be provided by traditional methods based entirely on health facilities only, which calls for the development of innovative plans and methods for learning and training.
The University has established the Clinical Skills and Simulation Center (CSSC) to provide the ideal environment that fosters accurate and established health training according to international standards to provide training programs and research environment distinctive for students and medical and health staff to ensure the safety of patients, and reduce medical errors, which contributes to provide safe health services to improve the health of the community.
The Center for Clinical Skills and Simulation (CSSC) at King Abdul Aziz University (KAU) is a state of the art training center that can be used as a resource for specialized facility for training health professionals from medical students, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, and evaluating participants through patient diagnostics and education models that include virtual patient use and electronic dolls for simulation High precision.
It is a training and research center under the supervision of the University Development Agency. In coordination with the faculties of health and the university hospital, the center trains the working health cadres and provides the appropriate educational environment for the students of the health faculties and doctors in the graduate programs. Using different learning models that include simulation techniques,
As the use of virtual patient and electronic toys for high-precision simulation, the Center also participates in research activities related to innovation and simulation in the health field with the participation of researchers from various relevant disciplines..
Summary
The CSC feature includes:
1. Exam rooms, computer stations and three wings, each has 8 rooms equipped exam room with computer stations.
2. One Simulated Operating Room.
3. One Simulated Trauma/Emergency Room.
4. Audio/Visual monitoring for each exam and simulation ER/OR rooms.
5. High fidelity computerized manikin (Hall, Istan, SimMan and Sim Baby).
6. Clinical stations/partial trainers (Trauma Man, Central Line trainers, IV arms, Arterial arms, Lumbar Puncture backs, Intubation heads, Pediatric Multi venous IV arm kit and Airway Management Trainer).
7. The B-line Medical Skills System and Sim Center System, comprehensive used for simultaneous monitoring, testing assessment, digital A/V management, and centralized data capture.
8. A computer server system which provides a range of outcome assessment activities including Objective Standardized Clinical Exercises (OSCE) for medical students, residents, faculty and other healthcare professionals. These include standardized patient encounters, high-fidelity mannequin scenarios, and clinical skills stations. The Clinical Skills Center is fully digitized which allows for the videotaping, video streaming, remote viewing and scoring of such simulated patient encounters.
9. We presently have standardized patients/actors as volunteers.
The Centre offers a high degree of flexibility making it ideal for training courses tailored to provide education for the needs of a wide range of healthcare professionals and students, from refresher courses to tutorials or crisis re-enactments.
10. Simulation is used throughout the undergraduate curricula of Medicine, postgraduate and faculty (train the trainer). Simulation is introduced from the early stages of all curricula to reinforce and expand more formal models of teaching. The simulation teaching programmed in CSC is designed to increase in complexity to compliment the students & doctors professional development. Simulation can be classified as low fidelity (learning injection techniques on an artificial limb), medium fidelity (resuscitation training) or high fidelity (immersive simulation using SimMan 3G or Sim Baby.
The Clinical Skills Centre has a large resource of part task trainers to compliment teaching sessions, such as venepuncture arms and physical examination models. The centre has a wide range of manikins from resuscitation training models through to SimMan 3G. SimMan 3G is an advanced high fidelity patient simulator which is completely wireless. This portability increases the range of medical conditions and scenarios that SimMan 3G can be used for. The Ward Simulation Exercise assesses a student’s ability to priorities competing demands including scripted timed interruptions, make safe decisions and manage the care of patients in a realistic clinical environment to increase authenticity Simulated Patients are trained for each session.

CSSC Objective
1- The Center for Clinical Skills and Simulation aims to
provide a virtual clinical environment for the hospital to conduct education
and training in a safe environment without harming patients, whether in the
usual cases, emergencies, natural disasters, etc.
2- Providing a safe and controlled learning environment for the
students of the health faculties, health staff and faculty
3- Promote the dissemination and use of simulation in health
education recognized within international health organizations and associations.
4- Develop and implement multidisciplinary health team
education programs.
5- Providing an incubating environment and encouraging
constructive scientific research in the field of simulation and health
sciences.
6- Developing and providing awareness programs aimed at
promoting the health of the local community in Saudi Arabia.

education by simulation and make the necessary efforts to declare support for
those interested in this area in order to make the required change.
8- CSSC services shall be provided to faculty and learners in accordance with CSSC Policy.
9- CSSC shall provide quality education to all learners in accordance with CSSC Policy.
10- The CSSC is willingly to meet any interested faculty to determine if CSSC services are appropriate for their specific learners and desired to learn outcomes.
11- Appropriate equipment and simulation rooms will be designated by the CSSC staff.

1- Management of the Center
The functions of the Department are to monitor the implementation of the special regulations and rules governing administrative, financial, manpower and operational tasks.

The Quality and Accreditation Unit aims to establish performance standards to measure the quality of services provided to the Center's users to ensure quality, as well as to ensure that the level of services conform to international standards and progress in obtaining and maintaining international academic credits.
* Educational Programs Unit
The tasks of the Educational Programs Unit are to contribute to the design of educational programs and the loss of scientific foundations adopted in the Center in cooperation with the faculty members of the various health colleges.
* Research and Development Unit
The Research and Development Unit aims at developing and directing scientific research to address local and international societal issues in the fields of simulation, modern teaching methods and medical sciences. The Unit also provides technical support and advice to faculty members in the field of scientific research.

* Software Reservation Unit
The Educational Programs Reservation Unit at the Center organizes and manages the software reservation mechanism according to the policies and procedures adopted by the Center in this regard.
* Simulation Program Unit
The simulation programs unit aims to implement and manage the simulation programs and equip the halls for the students of the health colleges and implement the policies and procedures related to them.
* Information Systems Unit
The Information Systems Unit at the Center aims at maintaining the integrity of the audio and visual systems and operating these systems to record simulation programs according to policies and procedures and to ensure their confidentiality and integrity.
* Devices and Supply Unit
The functions of the unit of materials and equipment in the center is to maintain the inventory of devices and equipment and materials for the educational process in warehouses in accordance with strict safety requirements. This unit also works to secure deficiencies and equip classrooms for the beneficiaries of services
*Standardize patient unit
The Virtual Patients Unit aims to train and qualify people who play the role of the patient to use them in the educational process and training and conduct tests for programs at the center. The unit also maintains data lists of these persons and categorize these lists by age group.
